Out of the mouths of babes ...

This morning, I asked my almost-two-year-old, apropos of nothing, "What are you going to do to make the world a better place?"
He looked me straight in the eye and immediately replied, "Pasta!"

Extra! Extra! New Coffee Sleeve!

I made a new coffee sleeve.

We had flocks of butterflies in our yard this fall - they were so beautiful and delicate, hovering over those dandelion-like flowers that bloomed when I neglected to mow our lawn for a few weeks.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the lovely fluttering things are the mature version of something like a tomato or cabbage worm. Still, they were quite magical hovering in the yard.

Talented Toddler

Well, I thought I was going write a little about needle-felting, what it is and where it comes from, but maybe next time. Today, I just want to mention that my little guy is learning how to needle-felt, all on his own. This morning, I took the compost out (by myself! Thirty seconds of quiet! Yesss!), leaving the little person in the house with his dad. When I got back, I was met by a toddler bearing gifts - namely, my needle-felting pad, with my current project, and, of course, the needle. Taking a closer look, I noticed a series of little holes where none had been before, evidence that someone had been testing the skills he's been watching Mama demonstrate so often lately. Well, no harm done - the needle was in one piece, and so were his little fingers. Whew!

Welcome to my blog!

It's the ever-intimidating, looming-in-the-mind FIRST STEP. My first blog entry, ever. There. Done. I'm sure I'll think of something clever later that I should have written instead, but at least we got that over with.
